October 25, 2024 (MLN): Pakistan stocks continued their recor­d-breaking rally for the fourth straight session on Friday, as improving macroeconomic indicators continued to boost sentiment.

The benchmark KSE-100 Index topped 90,000 for the first time in history and notched its 44th record close this year.

The index closed at 89,993.96 after an increase of 1,047.98 points or 1.18% from the previous session.

The index remained positive throughout the day showing an intraday high of 90,593.61 (+1,647.63) and a low of 89,373.82 (+427.84) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 365.94 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 52 closed up, 46 closed down, while 2 were unchanged.

Top gainers during the day were PGLC (+12.05%), KOHC (+10.00%), ABOT (+10.00%), PSO (+9.62%), and FCEPL (+8.91%).

On the other hand, top losers were ILP (-9.69%), LOTCHEM (-6.98%), NCPL (-5.51%), KEL (-4.98%), and ATRL (-3.98%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were FFC (+258.21pts), PSO (+134.52pts), MCB (+125.90pts), EFERT (+103.31pts), and UBL (+99.98pts).

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were HUBC (-133.37pts), ILP (-60.95pts), ATRL (-26.67pts), KEL (-21.38pts), and TRG (-17.36pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Fertilizer (+417.21pts), Commercial Banks (+288.16pts), Cement (+274.36pts), Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (+140.65pts), and Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (+112.55pts).

While the index was let down by Power Generation & Distribution (-160.88pts), Textile Composite (-59.09pts), Technology & Communication (-54.12pts), Refinery (-33.59pts), and Automobile Assembler (-33.07pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 57,461.53 with a net gain of 495.83 points or 0.87%.

Total market volume was 695.54 million shares compared to 757.65m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs37.87 billion showing an increase of Rs1.83bn.

There were 344,865 trades reported in 457 companies with 181 closing up, 222 closing down, and 54 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 11,549 points or 14.72% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 27,543 points or 44.10% so far this calendar year.
