January 02, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Thursday's trading session at 117,119.65, showing an increase of 111.57 points or 0.10%.

The index traded in a range of 1,510.20 points showing an intraday high of 118,367.81 (+1,359.73) and a low of 116,857.61 (-150.47) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 383.72 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 39 closed up, 57 closed down, while 4 were unchanged.

Top gainers during the day were MTL (+10.00%), PSX (+9.99%), PGLC (+9.98%), ENGRO (+6.02%), and EFERT (+5.92%).

On the other hand, top losers were INDU (-4.54%), ISL (-4.42%), MLCF (-4.27%), DGKC (-3.60%), and INIL (-3.59%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were EFERT (+238.14pts), ENGRO (+236.06pts), MTL (+183.78pts), DAWH (+65.61pts), and HBL (+56.85pts).

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were OGDC (-111.85pts), PPL (-105.88pts), MARI (-104.27pts), PSO (-90.09pts), and HUBC (-73.14pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Fertilizer (+461.69pts), Automobile Assembler (+118.15pts), Commercial Banks (+113.83pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (+113.14pts), and Miscellaneous (+22.91pts).

While the index was let down by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-333.37pts), Cement (-109.08pts), Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (-87.32pts), Power Generation & Distribution (-83.41pts), and Engineering (-44.35pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 72,863.90 with a net loss of 162.96 points or 0.22%.

Total market volume was 1,037.86 million shares compared to 956.27m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs46.57 billion showing an increase of Rs0.13bn.

There were 455,504 trades reported in 463 companies with 192 closing up, 225 closing down, and 46 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 38,675 points or 49.30% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 1,993 points or 1.73% so far this calendar year.
