PSX Closing Bell: Lose Yourself

May 16, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Friday's trading session at 119,649.14, showing a decrease of 312.77 points or 0.26%.

The index traded in a range of 965.02 points, showing an intraday high of 120,506.17 (+544.26) and a low of 119,541.15 (-420.76) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 235.07 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 47 closed up, 51 closed down, while 2 were unchanged.

Top losers during the day were PGLC (-5.89%), PSEL (-5.12%), PAEL (-3.45%), TRG (-2.76%), and DGKC (-2.62%).

On the other hand, top gainers were POML (+10.00%), ISL (+7.18%), MUGHAL (+6.97%), LOTCHEM (+6.55%), and INIL (+5.74%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that dragged the index lower were FFC (-148.47pts), LUCK (-75.24pts), MARI (-70.90pts), OGDC (-48.11pts), and PSO (-44.72pts).

Meanwhile, companies that added points to the index were ENGROH (+53.80pts), UBL (+48.80pts), BAHL (+36.16pts), BAFL (+34.89pts), and SRVI (+28.49pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was let down by Fertilizer (-190.84pts), Cement (-172.07pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-151.37pts), Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (-64.51pts), and Miscellaneous (-37.73pts).

While the index was supported by Commercial Banks (+187.54pts), Pharmaceuticals (+63.01pts), Engineering (+57.39pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (+42.22pts), and Chemical (+30.29pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 74,209.25 with a net loss of 31.27 points or 0.04%.

Total market volume was 572.29 million shares compared to 698.97m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs29.03 billion showing a decrease of Rs10.06bn.

There were 343,444 trades reported in 465 companies with 206 closing up, 209 closing down, and 50 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 41,204 points or 52.53% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 4,522 points or 3.93% so far this calendar year.
