August 27, 2024 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Tuesday's trading session at 78,084.23, showing a decrease of 486.82 points or 0.62%.

The index traded in a range of 779.78 points showing an intraday high of 78,857.61 (+286.56) and a low of 78,077.83 (-493.22) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 190.60 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 28 closed up, 66 closed down, 4 were unchanged, while 2 remained untraded.

Top losers during the day were GLAXO (-5.43%), AGP (-4.42%), KEL (-4.22%), IBFL (-4.08%), and MTL (-3.80%).

On the other hand, top gainers were YOUW (+12.38%), CNERGY (+5.01%), PIBTL (+4.70%), PAEL (+3.29%), and NRL (+3.06%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that dragged the index lower were FFC (-69.22pts), ENGRO (-64.68pts), MTL (-56.34pts), HUBC (-53.26pts), and EFERT (-37.90pts).

Meanwhile, companies that added points to the index were MARI (+43.48pts), PSO (+17.86pts), FCCL (+16.22pts), PAEL (+11.10pts), and CNERGY (+10.02pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was let down by Fertilizer (-173.33pts), Commercial Banks (-89.37pts), Power Generation & Distribution (-75.84pts), Pharmaceuticals (-58.35pts), and Automobile Assembler (-57.50pts).

While the index was supported by Refinery (+18.59pts), Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (+14.36pts), Cable & Electrical Goods (+11.10pts), Transport (+6.69pts), and Technology & Communication (+6.18pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 50,326.52 with a net loss of 271.95 points or 0.54%.

Total market volume was 591.51 million shares compared to 512.34m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs17.12 billion showing a decrease of Rs1.78bn.

There were 254,195 trades reported in 434 companies with 163 closing up, 220 closing down, and 51 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has lost 361 points or 0.46% during the fiscal year, whereas the ongoing calendar year has witnessed a cumulative increase of 15,633 points, equivalent to 25.03%.
