September 14, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PSX: PPL) reported a 9% increase in its consolidated net profit for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2026, reaching Rs97.68bn compared to Rs89.95bn in the preceding year.

Alongside the financial results, the board recommended a final cash dividend of Rs6 per share.

Reflecting this bottom-line growth, basic and diluted earnings per share (EPS) for the year rose to Rs35.90, up from Rs33.06 in FY25.

The primary drivers behind the performance were top-line revenue expansion, a 35% reduction in exploration write-offs, and lower corporate taxation outlays.

Net revenue from contracts with customers grew by 9% year-on-year to Rs266.31bn, up from Rs244.98bn in FY25.

Although operating expenses expanded 14% to Rs62.32bn and royalties and other levies rose 16% to Rs43.83bn, strong sales revenue enabled gross profit to expand 5% to Rs160.16bn compared to Rs152.61bn in the prior year.

On the operational front, overheads showed mixed trends.

Administrative expenses grew 20% to Rs8.15bn and other charges increased 24% to Rs14.57bn, while share of loss of associates widened to Rs764.24m.

However, operational pressures were significantly cushioned by a 35% decline in exploration expenses, which fell to Rs12.07bn (down from Rs18.54bn in FY25).

Below the operating line, PPL gained debt-servicing relief with finance costs falling 17% to Rs2.07bn.

Although "other income" dropped 45% to Rs13.36bn (down from Rs24.19bn in FY25), pre-tax performance remained stable, with profit before taxation settling virtually flat at Rs135.89bn (down less than 1% from Rs136.87bn in FY25).

The company absorbed an 19% lighter corporate taxation charge of Rs38.21bn for the year (down from Rs46.92bn in FY25).

Supported by 9% revenue growth, lower exploration write-offs, reduced finance charges, and tax relief, Pakistan Petroleum Limited securely closed the fiscal year with its net profit reaching Rs97.68bn.
