Eraj Hashmi, CFA named Head of Finance Secretary's Strategic Support Unit

September 14, 2026 (MLN): The Finance Division has directed that Eraj Hashmi, CFA, Director Operations/Chief Operating Officer in the Debt Management Office, shall head the Finance Secretary's Strategic Support Unit (FSSU), with immediate effect and until further orders.

Eraj Hashmi has served as Director Debt at the Ministry of Finance since September 2023.

He previously spent over nine years at the National Bank of Pakistan, including as Wing Head, Business Support & Management (Treasury & Capital Markets), and earlier as Portfolio Manager & Senior Trader for Fixed Income Sales.

He also served as Nominee Director at Taurus Securities Limited, an NBP subsidiary, and taught as an Adjunct Professor of Finance at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), where he delivered MBA executive electives in financial modelling, treasury and financial derivatives, fixed income, and financial regulations.

He holds an MSc in Finance and Economic Development from the University of Glasgow, completed under a Chevening Scholarship awarded by the UK's Foreign and Commonwealth Office, and is a CFA Charterholder from the CFA Institute USA.
