PSX Closing Bell: Hard Workin' Man

July 19, 2023 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 index continued to consolidate around the key 45,000 points area, ultimately concluding Wednesday’s trading session at 45,095.11pts, recording an uptick of 85.78pts or 0.19% DoD.

The Pakistan stock market (PSX) has entered a period of calm after the intense rally in the past few weeks.

Investors are waiting for the next catalyst for signals of the next direction.

In today's session, the index traded in a range of 299.47 points showing an intraday high of 45,227.49 and a low of 44,928.02.

Total Volume of the KSE100 Index was 125.855 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 29 closed up, 61 closed down, 6 were unchanged while 4 remained untraded.

KSE100 index was supported by Commercial Banks with 292.03, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 27.26, Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 15.84, Glass & Ceramics with 12.71 and Power Generation & Distribution with 10.0 points.

Companies adding points to the index were UBL with 107.45, MCB with 83.88, BAHL with 59.83, PPL with 30.1 and BAFL with 21.32 points.

KSE100 Index was let down by Chemical with 90.96, Technology & Communication with 52.53, Cement with 36.02, Fertilizer with 29.6 and Pharmaceuticals with 21.15 points.

Companies dragging the index lower were COLG with 83.08, TRG with 32.8, ENGRO with 18.5, CHCC with 9.33 and SYS with 8.88 points.

In the broader market, the All-Share index closed at 30,352.33 with a net loss of 98.29 points.

Total market volume was 245.454 million shares compared to 254.961 from the previous session while traded value being recorded at 9.4 billion showing an increase of Rs.2.08 billion.

There was 129,926 trades reported in 319 companies with 96 closing up, 197 closing down and 26 remaining unchanged.
