May 30, 2024 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 index ended Thursday's trading session at 74,878.12 showing an increase of 41.82 points or 0.06%.

The index traded in a range of 714.68 points showing an intraday high of 75,300.03 (+463.73) and a low of 74,585.35 (-250.95) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 index was 175.8 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 42 closed up, 53 closed down, 5 were unchanged, while 0 remained untraded.

KSE-100 index was supported by Cement (130.06pts), Automobile Assembler (57.45pts), Leather & Tanneries (43.2pts), Power Generation & Distribution (27.77pts), and Engineering (20.45pts).

On the flip-side, the index was let down by Fertilizer (94.39pts), Commercial Banks (63.62pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (26.32pts), Miscellaneous (19.4pts), and Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (17.26pts).

Companies adding points to the index were MTL (59.09pts), SRVI (43.2pts), FCCL (32.79pts), LUCK (32.14pts), and PPL (29.77pts).

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were FFC (51.44pts), MARI (41.1pts), ENGRO (32.79pts), MCB (29.17pts), and PSEL (19.73pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share index closed at 48,334.64 with a net loss of 84.83 points.

Total market volume was 410.58 million shares compared to 408.07m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs14.92 billion showing a decrease of Rs1.59bn.

There were 194,871 trades reported in 413 companies with 161 closing up, 196 closing down and 56 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 33,425 points or 80.64% during the fiscal year, whereas the ongoing calendar year has witnessed a cumulative increase of 12,427 points, equivalent to 19.9%.
