PSX Closing Bell: Bulls on the Backfoot

June 02, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Monday's trading session at 118,877.80, showing a decrease of 813.29 points or 0.68%.

The index traded in a range of 1,917.93 points, showing an intraday high of 120,590.77 (+899.68) and a low of 118,672.84 (-1,018.25) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 164.32 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 26 closed up, 72 closed down, while 2 were unchanged.

Top losers during the day were SYS (-4.98%), POML (-4.98%), KTML (-4.87%), KEL (-4.32%), and MLCF (-3.93%).

On the other hand, top gainers were PKGP (+10.00%), NATF (+9.93%), EPCL (+6.69%), PGLC (+4.33%), and GHGL (+4.24%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that dragged the index lower were SYS (-172.17pts), ENGROH (-103.09pts), PPL (-66.21pts), FFC (-57.10pts), and LUCK (-56.58pts).

Meanwhile, companies that added points to the index were PKGP (+70.42pts), NATF (+46.30pts), MEBL (+32.86pts), NBP (+29.14pts), and BAHL (+22.89pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was let down by Technology & Communication (-197.75pts), Cement (-189.30pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-133.52pts), Fertilizer (-112.74pts), and Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (-106.47pts).

While the index was supported by Food & Personal Care Products (+35.91pts), Power Generation & Distribution (+35.27pts), Glass & Ceramics (+27.85pts), Commercial Banks (+18.18pts), and Chemical (+10.14pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 74,458.74 with a net loss of 302.57 points or 0.40%.

Total market volume was 497.94 million shares compared to 580.26m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs23.45 billion showing an increase of Rs0.71bn.

There were 302,587 trades reported in 463 companies with 192 closing up, 231 closing down, and 40 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 40,433 points or 51.54% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 3,751 points or 3.26% so far this calendar year.
