April 6, 2026 (MLN):  The Sindh government has rolled out an online verification and registration system to facilitate citizens applying for the motorcycle fuel subsidy programme, enabling applicants to confirm ownership digitally using CNIC and IBAN details and receive automated confirmation.

The move is aimed at ensuring transparency, speeding up the process, and making it easier for genuine beneficiaries to access financial assistance.

Speaking at a press conference at the CM House, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said the initiative was developed after consultations with transporters and traders’ associations.

He was accompanied by provincial ministers Sharjeel Memon, Nasir Shah, Mukesh Chawala, and Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, adding that traders’ input on market timings would be discussed with the federal government before a final decision.

Under the scheme, every registered motorcycle owner will receive Rs2,000 per month, equivalent to subsidising around 20 litres of fuel, as part of the government’s targeted effort to cushion the impact of rising fuel prices on daily commuters.

To further facilitate applicants, the government has abolished the Rs500 motorcycle transfer fee to encourage correction of ownership records, while excise offices across Sindh will remain open from 8:00 am to midnight for 15 days, including weekends.

A dedicated helpline has also been set up to assist citizens, and around 1,500 motorcycles have already been transferred to rightful owners.

The broader relief package includes a freeze on public transport fares at February 28, 2026 levels, with subsidies provided to transporters to offset rising fuel costs, as well as a Rs3 billion farmer support programme for small growers.

The chief minister said the targeted subsidy framework is designed to ensure direct, transparent delivery of assistance while promoting financial inclusion, with further plans under consideration to extend relief on essential commodities such as flour and food items.
