In the company-wise landscape, Toyota retained its market
leadership, with sales rising to 3,451 units in April 2026 compared to 2,516
units in the same month last year.
The increase was largely supported by sustained demand for
Corolla, Yaris, and Corolla Cross, particularly in the higher engine capacity
segment, as consumer appetite for Toyota's established lineup remained
resilient.
Similarly, Honda posted continued growth momentum, with
sales reaching 2,432 units, up from 1,574 units in April 2025. The strong
performance shows sustained demand for Civic and City, as the sedan segment
continued to benefit from relatively stable macroeconomic conditions and
improving consumer confidence.
Suzuki Swift also recorded a remarkable year-on-year surge,
with sales climbing to 2,205 units in April 2026 compared to just 671 units in
April 2025, signaling a strong recovery in the mid-segment hatchback category.
Meanwhile, Suzuki continued to dominate the small car
segment through its broader portfolio.
The Alto remained the single largest contributor within the
below 1,000cc category, recording 7,567 units against 2,276 units in the same
month last year a near three-fold increase anchoring overall industry volumes.
The Cultus also maintained a healthy trajectory with 489
units, while the Every van contributed steadily at 751 units.
Hyundai maintained a stable presence in the market. The
Elantra continued to contribute within the sedan category, recording 428 units
compared to 218 units in April 2025, showing healthy traction in the premium
sedan space.
The Sonata, however, remained limited to a niche segment
with relatively modest volumes.
In the emerging SUV and crossover space, Sazgar Engineering
Works delivered a standout performance through its HAVAL lineup, with sales
surging to 2,208 units from 539 units in April 2025 a four-fold increase that
underscores a decisive shift in consumer preferences towards premium
crossovers.
The Hyundai Tucson also recorded a notable rebound, reaching
259 units versus just 5 units in April 2025, further reinforcing growing
appetite in the SUV segment.
Additionally, the newly introduced Jetour by United Motors
contributed 305 units, signaling the growing competitiveness in the crossover
space.
The jeeps, pickups, and SUVs segment showed strong overall
momentum during April 2026, with total sales standing at 4,628 units, up
significantly from 2,636 units in the corresponding month last year.
Within this category, Toyota's Fortuner and IMVs continued
to anchor the premium SUV space with 879 units, while Honda's BR-V and HR-V
posted steady demand at 284 units.
Sazgar's HAVAL lineup emerged as the dominant force within
the segment, further consolidating its foothold amid strong consumer
inclination towards crossover SUVs.
The commercial vehicle segment also reflected improving
economic activity.
Trucks and buses recorded total sales of 824 units in April
2026, compared to 520 units in April 2025, signaling a continued pickup in
logistics and industrial movement.
Similarly, the agriculture-linked segment remained robust, with tractor sales reaching 2,824 units in April 2026 versus 1,602 units in the same month last year, highlighting strong rural demand and continued support from the farming sector.
