PKR weakens by 2 paisa against USD

March 12, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) fell by 1.85 paisa or 0.01% against the US dollar in Wednesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 279.97 per USD, compared to the previous closing of 279.95.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 280.00 and a low (ask) of 279.95.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 280.00 for buying and 281.75 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR deteriorated 46.81 paisa or 0.15% against the Euro, closing at 305.69 compared to the previous value of 305.22.

Against the British Pound, PKR weakened by 58.39 paisa or 0.16% to 362.31 compared to 361.73 a day ago.

The local unit gained 91.77 paisa or 0.29% against Swiss franc to close at 317.48.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value rose 1.80 paisa or 0.94% to close the session at 1.8868 versus 1.9048 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee rose 6.13 paisa or 0.16% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.66 from 38.72.

The local currency weakened by 0.69 paisa or 0.01% against Saudi Riyal to 74.65. While it deteriorated by 0.50 paisa or 0.01% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.23.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has depreciated against the US Dollar by 1.63 rupees or 0.58%. While it has deteriorated 1.42 rupees or 0.51% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched up by 2bps to 11.77% and 12.02%.
