PKR trades 10 paisa higher against USD, closes below 155 since Jun 13

December 09, 2019 (MLN): Pakistani rupee (PKR) appreciated by 10 paisa against US Dollar (USD) in today's interbank session as the currency closed the day's trade at PKR 154.97 per USD, against last session's closing of PKR 155.07 per USD.

This is the first time since June 13, 2019 that the dollar has closed below 155.

The rupee endured a relatively dull trading session with very little intraday movement, trading in a range of 7 paisa per USD showing an intraday high bid of 155.02 and an intraday Low offer of 154.98.

Within the Open Market, PKR was traded at 154.50/155.20 per USD.

Alternatively, the currency lost 50 paisa to the Pound Sterling as the day's closing quote stood at PKR 204.05 per GBP, while the previous session closed at PKR 203.55 per GBP.

On the other hand, PKR's value strengthened by 66 paisa against EUR which closed at PKR 171.51 at the interbank today.

On another note, within the money market, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) conducted an Open Market Operation in which it injected Rs.86 billion for 4 days at 13.31 percent.

The overnight repo rate towards close of the session was 12.90/13.10 percent, whereas the 1 week rate was 13.20/13.30 percent.
