PKR strengthens 5 paisa against USD

March 27, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) gained by 4.65 paisa or 0.02% against the US dollar in Thursday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 280.22 per USD, compared to the previous closing of 280.26.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 280.30 and a low (ask) of 280.20.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 279.50 for buying and 282.10 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR increased 77.87 paisa or 0.26% against the Euro, closing at 301.61 compared to the previous value of 302.39.

Against the British Pound, PKR strengthened by 0.39 paisa or 0.00% to 361.82 compared to 361.82 a day ago.

The local unit appreciated 30.38 paisa or 0.10% against Swiss franc to close at 316.97.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value increased 0.26 paisa or 0.14% to close the session at 1.8614 versus 1.8640 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee increased 1.17 paisa or 0.03% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.57 from 38.58.

The local currency rose by 1.24 paisa or 0.02% against Saudi Riyal to 74.70. While it rose by 1.16 paisa or 0.02% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.29.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has decreased against the US Dollar by 1.88 rupees or 0.67%. While it has decreased 1.67 rupees or 0.60% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates increased by 12bps to 11.87% and 12.12%.
