December 20, 2024 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) weakened by 6.96 paisa or 0.03% against the US dollar in Friday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 278.42 per USD, compared to the previous closing of 278.35.
Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 278.40 and a low (ask) of 278.35.
In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 278.25 for buying and 278.45 for selling.
In comparison to major currencies, PKR strengthened 41.49 paisa or 0.14% against the Euro, closing at 289.06 compared to the previous value of 289.47.
Against the British Pound, PKR gained by 2.95 rupees or 0.84% to 348.09 compared to 351.04 a day ago.
The local unit fell 37.10 paisa or 0.12% against Swiss franc to close at 310.23.
Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value increased 0.27 paisa or 0.15% to close the session at 1.7752 versus 1.7779 a day ago.
Pakistani Rupee deteriorated 1.11 paisa or 0.03% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.15 from 38.14.
The local currency appreciated by 1.30 paisa or 0.02% against Saudi Riyal to 74.07. While it fell by 1.90 paisa or 0.03% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 75.80.
During the current fiscal year, PKR has deteriorated against the US Dollar by 7.84 paisa or 0.03%. While it has increased 3.44 rupees or 1.24% so far this calendar year.
In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched up by 1bps to 12.00% and 12.25%.
