PKR holds steady at 284.97 per USD

July 17, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) fell by 0.22 paisa or 0.00% against the US dollar in Thursday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 284.97 per USD, compared to previous closing of 284.96.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 286.5 and a low (ask) of 288.5.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 287.00 for buying and 288.50 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR strengthened 78.11 paisa or 0.24% against the Euro, closing at 330.33 compared to the previous value of 331.11.

Against the British Pound, PKR appreciated by 38.18 paisa or 0.10% to 381.40 compared to 381.78 a day ago.

The local unit appreciated 1.28 rupees or 0.36% against Swiss franc to close at 354.37.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value deteriorated 0.14 paisa or 0.07% to close the session at 1.9159 versus 1.9145 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee strengthened 1.21 paisa or 0.03% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.69 from 39.70.

The local currency strengthened by 0.55 paisa or 0.01% against Saudi Riyal to 75.97. While it weakened by 0.38 paisa or 0.00% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 77.58.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has depreciated against the US Dollar by 1.20 rupees or 0.42%. While it has deteriorated 6.42 rupees or 2.25% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates unchanged by 0bps to 10.77% and 11.02%.
