PKR gains 10 paisa against USD

July 18, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) gained by 9.88 paisa or 0.03% against the US dollar in Friday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 284.87 per USD, compared to previous closing of 284.97.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 287.5 and a low (ask) of 288.6.

 

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 286.50 for buying and 288.50 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR depreciated 1.21 rupees or 0.37% against the Euro, closing at 331.54 compared to the previous value of 330.33.

Against the British Pound, PKR fell by 1.41 rupees or 0.37% to 382.80 compared to 381.40 a day ago.

The local unit depreciated 87.11 paisa or 0.25% against Swiss franc to close at 355.24.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value weakened 0.01 paisa or 0.01% to close the session at 1.9160 versus 1.9159 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee appreciated 0.17 paisa or 0.00% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.69 from 39.69.

The local currency gained by 3.04 paisa or 0.04% against Saudi Riyal to 75.94. While it gained by 2.90 paisa or 0.04% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 77.56.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has decreased against the US Dollar by 1.10 rupees or 0.39%. While it has depreciated 6.32 rupees or 2.22% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 1bps to 10.76% and 11.01%.
