PKR rises by 8 paisa against USD

November 21, 2024 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) appreciated by 8.33 paisa or 0.03% against the US dollar in Thursday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 277.96 per USD, compared to previous closing of 278.04.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 278.10 and a low (ask) of 278.00.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 276.60 for buying and 279.10 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR increased 1.06 rupees or 0.36% against the Euro, closing at 292.90 compared to the previous value of 293.96.

Against the British Pound, PKR appreciated by 1.51 rupees or 0.43% to 351.41 compared to 352.92 a day ago.

The local unit deteriorated 42.19 paisa or 0.13% against Swiss franc to close at 314.75.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value fell 1.01 paisa or 0.57% to close the session at 1.7959 versus 1.7858 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee depreciated 0.20 paisa or 0.01% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.40 from 38.39.

The local currency rose by 1.92 paisa or 0.03% against Saudi Riyal to 74.04. While it gained by 2.27 paisa or 0.03% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 75.68.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has rose against the US Dollar by 38.22 paisa or 0.14%. While it has rose 3.90 rupees or 1.40% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched up by 1bps to 13.40% and 13.65%.
