February 29, 2024 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) remained stable against the US dollar in Thursday's interbank session as the currency settled the trade at PKR 279.11 per USD.
The currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 279.5 and a low (ask) of 279.
In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 279.45 for buying and 282.04 for selling.
In comparison to major currencies, PKR lost 29.9 paisa against the Euro, closing at 302.42 compared to the previous value of 302.12.
The British Pound became cheaper by 6.52 paisa closing at 353.24 compared to 353.31 from a day ago.
The Swiss franc saw gains of 76.69 paisa, closing at 317.66 compared to 316.89 from the previous session.
Against the Japanese Yen, PKR lost 1.41 paisa, closing at 1.8652 versus 1.8511 a day ago.
The Chinese Yuan gained 2.65 paisa, closing at 38.8 against 38.77 from the previous session.
The Saudi Riyal closed at 74.42 with a loss of 0.3 paisa from its value of 74.42 a day ago.
The U.A.E Dirham increased in value by 0.11 paisa from 75.99 a day ago to 75.99.
During the current financial year, PKR has appreciated against the Dollar by 6.88 rupees or 2.46%. While the current calendar year has seen PKR appreciate by 2.75 rupees or 0.98%.
In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 1 bps to 21.48% and 21.73%.
