PKR remains stable at 278.48 per USD

December 30, 2024 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) remained largely stable against the US dollar in today's session, witnessing a minor drop of 0.89 paisa to settle the trade at PKR 278.48 per USD, compared to the previous closing of 278.47.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 278.60 and a low (ask) of 278.50.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 278 for buying and 279.50 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR weakened 6.50 paisa or 0.02% against the Euro, closing at 290.21 compared to the previous value of 290.15.

Against the British Pound, PKR weakened by 98.58 paisa or 0.28% to 349.96 compared to 348.98 a day ago.

The local unit appreciated 69.30 paisa or 0.22% against Swiss franc to close at 308.65.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value increased 0.06 paisa or 0.03% to close the session at 1.7640 versus 1.7646 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee fell 0.15 paisa or 0.00% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.15 from 38.15.

The local currency deteriorated by 0.24 paisa or 0.00% against Saudi Riyal to 74.16. While it fell by 0.34 paisa or 0.00% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 75.82.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has decreased against the US Dollar by 13.60 paisa or 0.05%. While it has strengthened 3.38 rupees or 1.21% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 1bps to 11.93% and 12.18%.
