PKR gains 13 paisa against USD

January 23, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) appreciated by 12.99 paisa or 0.05% against the US dollar in Thursday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 278.72 per USD, compared to previous closing of 278.85.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 278.85 and a low (ask) of 278.70.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 279 for buying and 281.3 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR increased 58.12 paisa or 0.20% against the Euro, closing at 289.72 compared to the previous value of 290.30.

Against the British Pound, PKR strengthened by 70.36 paisa or 0.20% to 342.77 compared to 343.48 a day ago.

The local unit strengthened 34.66 paisa or 0.11% against Swiss franc to close at 307.20.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value rose 0.75 paisa or 0.42% to close the session at 1.7795 versus 1.7870 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee rose 3.28 paisa or 0.09% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.25 from 38.29.

The local currency appreciated by 2.28 paisa or 0.03% against Saudi Riyal to 74.30. While it strengthened by 3.54 paisa or 0.05% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 75.88.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has fell against the US Dollar by 38.16 paisa or 0.14%. While it has weakened 17.28 paisa or 0.06% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates fell by 20bps to 11.41% and 11.66%.
