PKR edges higher to 277.3 against USD

September 14, 2026 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee posted a marginal gain against the US dollar in the interbank market on Monday, closing at PKR 277.31 per dollar compared with Friday’s close of PKR 277.32.

During the session, the rupee traded between an intraday high (bid) of PKR 277.50 and a low (ask) of PKR 277.30.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at PKR 277.50 for buying and PKR 278.35 for selling.

The rupee also strengthened against most major currencies. It gained PKR 1.77, or 0.55%, against the euro to close at PKR 319.94, compared with PKR 321.71 previously.

Against the British pound, the local currency appreciated by 77.54 paisa, or 0.21%, settling at PKR 373.86 versus PKR 374.64 a day earlier.

The rupee strengthened by PKR 2.11, or 0.62%, against the Swiss franc to close at PKR 338.52.

Against the Japanese yen, the local unit gained 0.57 paisa, or 0.32%, to settle at PKR 1.7945 compared with PKR 1.8002 previously.

However, the rupee weakened marginally against the Chinese yuan, declining 1.19 paisa, or 0.03%, to close at PKR 41.35 from PKR 41.34.

Against the Saudi riyal, the rupee appreciated by 1.83 paisa, or 0.02%, to close at PKR 73.84, while it gained 0.25 paisa against the UAE dirham to settle at PKR 75.50.

On a broader basis, the rupee has appreciated by 84.81 paisa, or 0.31%, against the US dollar during the current fiscal year. On a calendar-year basis, the local currency has strengthened by PKR 2.81, or 1.01%.

Meanwhile, in the money market, the benchmark six-month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates remained unchanged at 11.74% and 11.99%, respectively.
