PKR falls by over 12 paisa against USD

November 27, 2024 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) decreased by 12.17 paisa or 0.04% against the US dollar in Wednesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 277.96 per USD, compared to previous closing of 277.84.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 278.10 and a low (ask) of 277.90.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 277.3 for buying and 279 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR weakened 86.42 paisa or 0.30% against the Euro, closing at 291.99 compared to the previous value of 291.12.

Against the British Pound, PKR weakened by 1.57 rupees or 0.45% to 350.19 compared to 348.62 a day ago.

The local unit deteriorated 1.25 rupees or 0.40% against Swiss franc to close at 314.58.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value decreased 2.79 paisa or 1.55% to close the session at 1.8333 versus 1.8054 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee weakened 5.82 paisa or 0.15% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.34 from 38.28.

The local currency fell by 0.68 paisa or 0.01% against Saudi Riyal to 74.00. While it weakened by 3.32 paisa or 0.04% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 75.68.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has appreciated against the US Dollar by 37.83 paisa or 0.14%. While it has appreciated 3.90 rupees or 1.40% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates plunged by 15bps to 13.12% and 13.37%.
