PKR falls 6 paisa against USD

December 12, 2024 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) depreciated by 6.23 paisa or 0.02% against the US dollar in Thursday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 278.23 per USD, compared to previous closing of 278.17.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 278.20 and a low (ask) of 278.15.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 277.30 for buying and 279.25 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR fell 48.27 paisa or 0.17% against the Euro, closing at 292.60 compared to the previous value of 292.12.

Against the British Pound, PKR depreciated by 63.58 paisa or 0.18% to 355.12 compared to 354.48 a day ago.

The local unit fell 89.02 paisa or 0.28% against Swiss franc to close at 315.33.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value increased 0.25 paisa or 0.14% to close the session at 1.8231 versus 1.8256 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee fell 5.28 paisa or 0.14% against the Chinese Yuan to close at 38.30 from 38.25.

The local currency fell by 2.45 paisa or 0.03% against Saudi Riyal to 74.04. It depreciated by 2.01 paisa or 0.03% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 75.75.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has appreciated against the US Dollar by 11.07 paisa or 0.04%. While it has gained 3.63 rupees or 1.30% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6-month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates fell by 17bps to 11.97% and 12.22%.
