PKR falls 5 paisa against USD

March 25, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) depreciated by 5.20 paisa or 0.02% against the US dollar in Tuesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 280.42 per USD, compared to the previous closing of 280.37.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 280.45 and a low (ask) of 280.40.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 280.00 for buying and 282.10 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR increased 1.46 rupees or 0.48% against the Euro, closing at 302.56 compared to the previous value of 304.02.

Against the British Pound, PKR strengthened by 1.12 rupees or 0.31% to 362.05 compared to 363.18 a day ago.

The local unit appreciated 78.57 paisa or 0.25% against Swiss franc to close at 317.04.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value rose 1.33 paisa, or 0.71%, to close the session at 1.8602, compared to 1.8735 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee gained 4.37 paisa or 0.11% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.61 from 38.65.

The local currency decreased by 0.99 paisa or 0.01% against Saudi Riyal to 74.75. While it deteriorated by 1.21 paisa or 0.02% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.35.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has decreased against the US Dollar by 2.08 rupees or 0.74%. While it has deteriorated 1.87 rupees or 0.67% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates unchanged by 0bps to 11.75% and 12.00%.
