PKR falls 10 paisa against USD

February 19, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) weakened by 10.18 paisa or 0.04% against the US dollar in Wednesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 279.47 per USD, compared to previous closing of 279.37.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 279.45 and a low (ask) of 279.40.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 278.75 for buying and 281.35 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR appreciated 25.68 paisa or 0.09% against the Euro, closing at 292.09 compared to the previous value of 292.34.

Against the British Pound, PKR deteriorated by 21.23 paisa or 0.06% to 352.68 compared to 352.46 a day ago.

The local unit increased 62.43 paisa or 0.20% against Swiss franc to close at 309.22.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value fell 0.58 paisa or 0.32% to close the session at 1.8428 versus 1.8370 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee strengthened 0.24 paisa or 0.01% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.36 from 38.37.

The local currency weakened by 2.72 paisa or 0.04% against Saudi Riyal to 74.52. While it deteriorated by 2.88 paisa or 0.04% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.09.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has depreciated against the US Dollar by 1.13 rupees or 0.40%. While it has depreciated 91.85 paisa or 0.33% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates unchanged by 0bps to 11.58% and 11.83%.
