PKR falls 10 paisa against USD

January 13, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) depreciated by 10 paisa or 0.04% against the US dollar in Monday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 278.68 per USD, compared to previous closing of 278.57.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 278.75 and a low (ask) of 278.65.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 278.50 for buying and 280.25 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR increased 2.11 rupees or 0.74% against the Euro, closing at 284.67 compared to the previous value of 286.78.

Against the British Pound, PKR increased by 4.06 rupees or 1.19% to 338.24 compared to 342.30 a day ago.

The local unit strengthened 1.26 rupees or 0.41% against Swiss franc to close at 303.98.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value fell 1.18 paisa or 0.67% to close the session at 1.7704 versus 1.7586 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee weakened 1.78 paisa or 0.05% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.01 from 37.99.

The local currency decreased by 2.37 paisa or 0.03% against Saudi Riyal to 74.24. While it decreased by 2.72 paisa or 0.04% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 75.87.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has weakened against the US Dollar by 33.38 paisa or 0.12%. While it has deteriorated 12.50 paisa or 0.04% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 1bps to 11.62% and 11.87%.
