PKR ends the week at 181.55 per USD

April 16, 2022 (MLN): Pakistani rupee (PKR) remained almost flat against the US Dollar (USD) at 181.55 in the interbank market on Saturday compared with the previous day’s close of Rs 181.58.

Throughout the day, the rupee endured a relatively dull trading session with quotes being recorded in a range of 20 paisa per USD showing an intraday high bid of 181.70 and an intraday Low offer of 181.70.

Within the Open Market, PKR was traded at 181/182 per USD.

During the week, the currency has gained 3.13 rupees against the greenback, as the previous week was concluded at PKR 184.68 per USD.

From July’21 to date, the local unit has lost Rs24 against the USD. Similarly, the rupee fell by Rs5.03 in CY22 with the month-to-date (MTD) position showing an increase of 1.05%, as per data compiled by Mettis Global.

Meanwhile, in today's session, the currency gained 2 paisa against the Pound Sterling as the day's closing quote stood at PKR 237.1 per GBP, while the previous session closed at PKR 237.13 per GBP.

On the other hand, PKR's value remained stable against EUR at PKR 196.22 at the interbank today.

On another note, within the money market, the overnight repo rate towards the close of the session was 12.30/12.60 percent, whereas the 1-week rate was 12.30/12.40 percent.
