Pakistan International Airline (PIA) has decided to shun down discretionary powers to allot business class seats to the favorite or influential passengers during Hajj flights as these seats will be allotted to senior citizens and aged-pilgrims.

By this decision, senior citizens could get benefits of extra facilities without additional charges instead of the influential people.

It was decided in a high level meeting on Wednesday chaired by Advisor to PM on Aviation Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan for the current Hajj flight operation.

The participants of the meeting deliberated over the suggestions given to improve facilities for the pilgrims during Hajj flights.

PM Advisor Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan said that it was great service and noble cause to provide best services to the pilgrims besides the professional obligation and urged the officials to perform their duties with a great spirit.

He directed the PIA Chief Commercial Officer to ensure provision of business class seats to the aged pilgrims on priority and declared the discretionary powers to allot business class seats as unreasonable.

He assured that the pilgrims will be provided maximum facilities during the flights. He directed Chief Commercial Officer of PIA to establish complaint cells at all airports and address the problems of the pilgrims while active officials should be appointed for 24 hours service at these help lines. “The record must be maintained for all these efforts to address the complaints,” he added.

Federal Secretary for Aviation Irfan Elahi, senior PIA officials were also present in the meeting.
