Pakitan’s Trade Deficit at USD 5.804 Billion in 3 months of FY21

October 05, 2020 (MLN): Pakistan's trade deficit for 3 months (July-September) FY21 was USD 5.80 billion compared to a deficit of USD 5.69 billion from the corresponding period from FY20.

According to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the trade deficit for the month of September 2020 was recorded at USD 2.391 billion compared to a deficit of USD1.74 billion from August 2020 showing the deficit worsened by 37.41 percent.

Compared to September 2019 deficit of USD 2.001 billion, the trade numbers deteriorated by19.49 percent

Exports increased by 18.24 percent to USD 1.873 billion compared to USD 1.584 billion in August 2020.

Similarly compared to September 2019 exports increased by 6.12 percent

Imports in September 2020 increased by 28.28 percent, clocking in at USD 4.264 billion compared to USD 3.324 billion in August 2020.

Similarly compared to September 2019 imports increased by 13.22 percent

Overall the 3 month exports stood at USD 5.458 billion compared to USD 5.51 from the corresponding period of last year, showing an increase of -0.94 percent. However Imports during the period increased by 0.56 percent to USD 11.262 billion compared to USD 11.199 from the same period of FY20.
