Pakistan unveils domestically made ICU ventilator

February 04, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan has successfully developed the AlnnoVent AVB-100, a domestically produced ICU ventilator, marking a significant breakthrough in healthcare technology innovation.

The inaugural ceremony of the indigenously developed ventilator was held in Islamabad, with Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain serving as the chief guest.

Addressing the event, the Minister stated that the ventilator, developed by Alsons Group, will enhance Pakistan's healthcare infrastructure and position the country as a strong contender in the global medical technology market.

He emphasized that producing high-quality medical devices locally would open new opportunities for Pakistan, drive economic growth, and create jobs, according to the press release.

The Minister noted that Pakistan currently spends nearly $2 billion annually on importing biomedical devices, including essential healthcare equipment.

The AlnnoVent AVB-100 is designed to provide critical support to Intensive Care Units (ICUs), addressing the growing demand for life-saving equipment.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the country faced significant challenges due to shortages in life-saving equipment.

“This technology will enable us to deliver life-saving care and swiftly respond to emergencies, marking a vital step toward ensuring self-sufficiency in critical medical supplies,” said Hussain.

Rana Tanveer Hussain concluded by underscoring the broader vision of continued investment in research, development, and infrastructure, which will position Pakistan as a global leader in medical device manufacturing and healthcare technology.
