Pakistan, Turkiye to enhance collaboration on road safety, infrastructure

February 19, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan and Turkiye are set to enhance bilateral cooperation in road infrastructure and safety, as Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan met with Turkiye’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdul Kadir Uraloglu, on the sidelines of the 4th Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety in Morocco.

Discussions focused on strengthening collaboration in the communications sector, with Abdul Aleem Khan inviting the Turkish minister to visit Pakistan and explore investment opportunities in the construction of Motorways M-6 and M-9.

He acknowledged Turkiye’s remarkable progress in road infrastructure, vehicle, and passenger safety, highlighting it as a regional role model.

Abdul Kadir Uraloglu assured full cooperation from the Turkish government and conveyed his goodwill toward Pakistan.

Both ministers also discussed the multinational Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), as per the press release.

The conference, attended by 260 ministers, experts, and delegates from 193 countries, featured a Ministerial Roundtable Session and an address by the UN Secretary-General’s Representative.

Leading Pakistan’s delegation, Abdul Aleem Khan actively participated in discussions, with the conference set to conclude on February 20 after three days of deliberations.

Abdul Aleem Khan led the national delegation at the 4th Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety in Morocco.

Representing Pakistan at the three-day conference from February 18 to 20, he participated in the inaugural session and engaged with global experts and ministers.
