KSE – 100 remained positive again today after activity almost doubled as investors flocked to make the most of the ongoing rally. The main factors contributing to today’s positivity include the collapse of political uncertainty after ex-PM was indicted today by the National Accountability Bureau in corruption cases. In addition to that, due to better than expected results posted by multiple companies today helped markets lift up by more than 820 points in intraday trading.

Index witnessed a session with significant surge in activity, an increase of 129% from yesterday’s total volume traded. Subsequently, due to a surge in volume, value traded also went up by more than 100%.

Market was supported by Fertilizer (+160.45 points), Cement (+157.18 points), Oil & Gas Exploration Cos. (+93.05) and Oil & Gas Marketing Cos. (+69.85 points). Index points were contributed by ENGRO +78.07, LUCK +59.46, PPL +47.35, HBL +42.31 and PSO +38.67.

On the contrary, sectors that pulled the index down were Tobacco (-18.56 points) due to the abysmal performance by Pakistan Tobacco for the period ended September, 2017.

MCB Bank Ltd. (MCB -23.33), Pakistan Oilfields (POL -19.77) and Pakistan Tobacco (PAKT -18.56) lost most points during the day as PAKT and POL missed their earnings expectations.

KSE-100 Index at the day end moved a total of +824.62 points up by 2.02%, closing at 41558.07 points. Index Volume was 113.02 million shares, value of shares traded was PKR 9.11 billion with index low-high range of 40733.45 – 41614.28.

The index movement was within the 880.83 points range.

76 companies closed up, whereas 12 were down at the day end.
