Pakistan sees a surge in expenditure incurred on Transport services

December 23, 2020 (MLN): The export of Transport services during the month of November 2020 amounted to $29.9 million, whereas the imports totaled $265 million.

This resulted in a net import bill of $235 million i.e. higher by nearly 5% as compared to the previous month and 23% as compared to the same month of last year.

According to the data published by the State Bank of Pakistan, the maximum expenditure was incurred on Sea Transport at $172.6 million, followed by Air Transport at $38.7 million and Road Transport at $2.8 million.

On the contrary, maximum income was earned from Air transport at $22 million, followed by Sea transport at $5.9 million.  

During the period Jul-Nov 2020, the net import bill from Transport services amounted to $903.1 million on account of exports of $162.8 million and imports of $1.06 billion. This is around 13% lower as compared to the same period of last year.
