Pakistan seeks closer collaboration with US EXIM Bank

October 27, 2024 (MLN): To explore greater cooperation between the EXIM Banks of Pakistan and the US, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Mr Muhammad Aurangzeb, met with Ms Reta Jo Lewis, President of the Export-Import (EXIM) Bank of the United States on the sidelines of the 2024 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.

During the meeting, the Finance Minister emphasized the need for stronger collaboration to unlock new investment opportunities in Pakistan.

Mr Aurangzeb welcomed the US EXIM Bank's growing interest in Pakistan’s energy, minerals, and IT sectors, assuring that the government would provide the necessary data to support the Bank’s assessment of entering the Pakistani market.

He also sought clarification on the US nexus requirements for goods and services financed or insured by the EXIM Bank to facilitate smoother business relations between both nations.
