June 27, 2023 (MLN): Pakistan's compliance with IMF's condition, the country will take the form of the fund's decision in the next couple of days, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday said right after the telephonic conversation with MD IMF Kristalina Georgieva.
During the telephone communication, issues related to the IMF program were discussed.
MDIMF acknowledged to the Prime Minister the efforts of the Finance Minister and his team in completing the IMF program.
Coordination on the points of the IMF program will take the form of an IMF decision in the next couple of days.
The Prime Minister reiterated his determination to achieve the goals of improving the economic situation through joint efforts.
In connection with the meetings held in Paris, the IMF director general acknowledged efforts by the finance minister and his team for the completion of the program.
With less than 10 days left until the expiry of the program on June 30, Pakistan's ninth review under the 2019 Extended Fund Facility (EFF), which aims to secure a $1.2bn tranche release from the IMF, is still pending.
