Pakistan imports from China clocks in at over $1bn

May 16, 2025 (MLN): Among Pakistan’s top trading partners, China remained the top source of imports for Pakistan during April, followed by U. A. E. Dubai, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar.
According to the data released by the State Bank of Pakistan, the total imports from China during the period under review went up by 25.2% to $1.61 billion, as compared to $1.29bn recorded in the corresponding period of last year.
This was followed by U. A. E. Dubai, as Pakistan imported goods worth $580.08m from the country as compared to the imports of $392.59m recorded during the same month of the previous year, depicting a rise of 47.8%.
Saudi Arabia was the third on the list as Pakistan imported products worth $348.17m from the country. This figure was down by 24.3% from the imports of $459.81m in the same period last year.
Qatar was the fourth in line as imports came from the region during the aforementioned period were $322.02m, depicting an increase of 9.7% YoY.
Among other countries, Pakistan's imports from the Indonesia stood at $224.61m, marking a rise of 14.8% YoY, while imports from Singapore increased by 34.6% YoY to $217.89m.
Moreover, the imports from U. S. A. stood at $184.24m, up by 5% YoY.
On a monthly basis, the total imports from China increased by 15.4% MoM. Similarly, imports from U. A. E. Dubai increased by 11.1% MoM.
Moreover, imports from Saudi Arabia depicted a decline of 3.2% MoM.
Meanwhile, cumulatively, in 10MFY25, China remained the top source of imports, recording $13.19bn as against the total imports worth $10.65bn in 10MFY24.
Whereas, total imports from U. A. E. Dubai in 10MFY25 stood at $5.25bn, registering an increase of 32.7%.
Cumulatively, Saudi Arabia ranked as the third-largest contributor to Pakistan's imports, accounting for imports valued at $3.18bn in 10MFY25, compared to the imports worth $3.79bn in the same period last year
