January 23, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan has encouraged Uzbek investors to establish display centers to enhance bilateral trade and cooperation, according to Federal Privatisation Minister Abdul Aleem Khan.
In a meeting with Uzbekistan’s Ambassador, Alisher Takhliyev, in Islamabad, Aleem Khan discussed the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Uzbekistan, scheduled for next month.
Aleem Khan emphasized the significant potential for mutually beneficial partnerships across various sectors between the two countries, according to the press release.
“The opportunities for collaboration across different sectors between Pakistan and Uzbekistan are immense,” Aleem Khan stated.
Uzbek Ambassador H.E. Alisher Tukhtaev expressed his country's desire to increase trade, cultural and other relations with Pakistan in future.
Federal Minister for Board of Investment, Abdul Aleem Khan, suggested that Uzbekistan send its tourism companies to Pakistan and invited investment in various communication projects, including the construction of motorways.
He proposed that Uzbekistan offer Pakistani travelers a 48 to 72-hour tourist visa on arrival at Uzbek airports, which would help bring the people of both countries closer together.
Minister Khan also emphasized the importance of improving land connectivity to strengthen bilateral relations, highlighting the need to promote alternative travel methods, including air and rail transport.
Expressing the deep connection of the Pakistani people to Uzbekistan and other Central Asian countries, he noted that cities like Samarkand, Bukhara, and Dushanbe are well-known to Pakistanis.
He stressed the significance of constructing improved road and communication networks linking Pakistan with Central Asia.
Minister Khan reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to enhancing bilateral trade and cooperation with Uzbekistan, promising positive developments soon.
In response, Uzbek Ambassador H.E. Alisher Tukhtaev thanked Minister Khan and assured full cooperation from the Uzbek government to support Pakistan's initiatives.
