Ishaq Dar seeks digital shift to facilitate overseas Pakistanis

August 12, 2026 (MLN): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has directed the adoption of digital technologies to facilitate overseas Pakistanis and enable them to access government services without requiring physical presence in Pakistan.

Ishaq Dar chaired a meeting on Tuesday to review issues confronting overseas Pakistanis and initiatives being undertaken for their facilitation, according to a press release issued by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister.

The meeting reviewed various measures introduced by the government in consultation with prominent representatives of the overseas Pakistani community to address their concerns and improve access to services.

Ishaq Dar stressed the need to expand digital solutions for overseas Pakistanis, aiming to reduce the requirement for in-person visits and make government services more accessible to the diaspora.

He also highlighted the significant contribution of overseas Pakistanis to the national economy through remittances.

The meeting was attended by the Minister for Overseas Pakistanis, Minister of State for Overseas Pakistanis, Chairman Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, Secretary IPC and other relevant stakeholders.

Officials briefed the meeting on initiatives already taken by the government to resolve issues faced by overseas Pakistanis, along with new measures aimed at further facilitating the diaspora.
