Overseas investors retreat to the selling zone once more: Weekly SCRA position

January 24, 2019 (MLN): Overseas investors retreated to the selling zone once again as during the week ended January 18, 2019, the net sale of securities via Specially Convertible Rupee Accounts (SCRA) was recorded to be Rs.381 million.

While trade through these accounts was more active this week, the increase in sale of securities was higher than the increase in purchase of securities, resulting in an overall selling spree.

The total sale of securities during the week was worth Rs.5.38 billion while previous week, Rs.3.39 billion worth of securities were sold by these investors.

Meanwhile, the total purchase of securities stands at Rs.5 billion, up from Rs.3.5 billion recorded a week before.

Apart from this, the flow of remittances into SCRA increased by Rs.973 million as Rs.2.12 billion were remitted this week.

On the flip side, the outflow of remittances stands firm at Rs.1.66 billion.

The closing balance of SCRA is Rs.29.28 billion, up from Rs.28.06 billion recorded previous week.
