Net selling via SCRA eases out by 9% as foreign investors display resilience

April 29, 2019 (MLN): The foreign investors displayed resilience in the outgoing week, as the equity markets witnessed more purchasing rather than selling of securities via Special Convertible Rupee Accounts (SCRA) for the week ended April 19, 2019.  

The sale of securities during the week was recorded at Rs. 5.4 billion, which is only 0.77% higher than the figures of last week. On the other hand, the total purchase of securities stood at Rs. 4.9 billion, which is 1.98% higher than previous week’s results.

Consequently, the net sale of securities for the week ended April 19, 2019 clocked in at Rs. 560 million, i.e. around 9% lower than the figures reported in the prior week.

Moreover, the inflow of remittances into these accounts stands at Rs. 2 billion while the outflow is recorded at Rs. 2.9 billion.

The closing balance of SCRA was recorded at Rs. 28.18 billion, up by only Rs. 278 million from previous week.
