MoC operationalizes Gwadar port for Afghan Transit Trade

April 21, 2020 (MLN): Ministry of Commerce has operationalized Gwadar Port for Afghan Transit Trade under APTTA 2010. Shipments of Sugar, Fertiliser & Wheat will be transported in sealed trucks to Afghanistan. In this regard, 16000 MT of DAP and WFP cargo of 500,000 MT Wheat for Afghanistan will arrive next month.

Moreover, ships from China will also be offloaded at Gwadar.

Advisor to PM for Commerce and Investment has announced on his twitter account this fulfills the long-standing request of the business community & the shipping industry, paving the way for generating business opportunities & employment both in Gwadar & along highways.

This move will kickstart port operations at Gwadar port which will also create and adopt eco-friendly initiatives to reduce energy usage and avoid costly oil spillovers for another big seaport of Pakistan.
