Machinery imports tick down by 18% YoY

December 18, 2018 (MLN): Cost of machinery imports has fallen down by 3.59% on MoM basis as the total imports amounted to $707 million in November, as compared to $733 million imports in October.

On a YoY basis, the total imports of machinery fell by 17.8% as they decreased from $860 million in Nov-17 to $707 million in Nov-18.

Agricultural machinery reported the largest decrease in imports by 34.43% on a MoM basis, as it fell from $11 million in Oct-18 to $7.5 million in Nov-18. However, it dropped by merely 0.9% on YoY basis as the value of imports stood at $7.6 million in Nov-17.

Construction machinery imports demonstrated a decrease of 37.3% on a YoY basis, as it plummeted from $26.8 million in Sept-17 to $16.8 million in Sept-18.

Power generation exhibited a growth of 15.09% on a MoM basis, increasing from $83 million in Oct-18 to $96 million in Nov-18. On the contrary, it fell by 47.8% on a YoY basis as it stood at $184 million in Nov-17.
