Machinery Imports during the month of April go up by 10.6 percent

According to the latest data released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), total machinery imports during the month of April clocked in at $1.022 billion; posting a phenomenal growth of 10.60 percent from March’s imports of $924.60 million with power generating machinery posting a phenomenal increase of 64.95 percent in imports during the period.

Compared to that, year on year growth in the Machinery imports also went up by more than 0.69 percent during the month of April. The total imports during the month of April 2018 against April 2017 grew by $7.037 million.

Machineries imported to Pakistan mainly include Power Generating Machinery, Construction and Mining machinery, Electrical Machinery and Apparatus, Textile Machinery and Agricultural Machinery.

The major chunk of imports under the Machinery head was mainly in the Power Generating Machinery which contributed a total of 24.26 percent of the entire imports. Total Power Generating Machinery imported during the month of April, 2018 clocked in by $248.125 million shrank from $255.134 million same month last year.

PBS data reveals the second major chunk of imports under the Machinery was mainly in the Electrical Machinery and Apparatus category which contributed a total of 18.82 percent of the entire imports. Electrical Machinery and Apparatus imported during the month of April, 2018 clocked in at $192.434 million shortened from $220.791 million same month last year.

Furthermore, year on year imports in mobile phones went up by 57.56 percent during April, 2018 with a month on month decrease by 2 percent.

Total Mobile phones and other Machinery imports clocked in at $75.53 million and $320.165 million during the month of April 2018.
