JS Investments Ltd all set to launch JS Motion Picture Fund

October 1, 2019 (MLN): SECP has granted approval to JS Investments, a premier asset management company in Pakistan, to launch JS Motion Picture Fund. The objective of the fund is to invest in the production of films, documentaries, drama serials, performing arts, and other works of art, culture, and entertainment in Pakistan.

With the Government's initiative of promoting the local VC industry by opening several Business Incubators, the efforts of SECP are commendable by evolving efficient regulations to achieve the aim of keeping Pakistan at the forefront of entrepreneurship and development.

It seems to be a good development since it will enable the flow of fresh/white investment in the film industry, and simultaneously improve the overall growth of Pakistan. Moreover, it is likely that foreign investment will flow through these funds into unique sectors in Pakistan.

Earlier, SECP had granted approval to JS Ltd for the launch of JS ALPHA Fund; a venture capital fund designed to invest in technologically oriented start-up and SME enterprises in Pakistan.
