January 15, 2025 (MLN): Heimtextil, the world’s leading trade fair for home and contract textiles, has officially opened its 2025 edition with more than 3,000 exhibitors from 65 countries.

With continued growth, the event has solidified its position as a key platform for the textile and design industries, drawing international participation, according to the press statement.

Serving as a reliable partner, Heimtextil provides solutions for sustainable business success in retail, industry, and the contract sector.

This is especially important given the current market challenges, including recession, rising energy prices, and regulations, which demand innovative and forward-thinking strategies.

Detlef Braun, Member of the Executive Board of Messe Frankfurt, stated, The steady growth and high level of international participation underscore Heimtextil's strength.

He further mentioned that as the leading global trade fair for home and contract textiles and textile design, it remains an essential partner for the industry, particularly in these challenging times.

Heimtextil provides companies with the opportunity to strengthen their market position by offering international visibility, identifying potential, and forging new global business partnerships, he added.

At the opening press conference of Heimtextil, renowned designer and architect Patricia Urquiola unveiled her installation "among-us" in Hall 12.0.

The installation features exclusive products crafted specifically for Heimtextil, including a hanging carpet made using the traditional dhurrie technique.

Developed in collaboration with brands like Kettal, Moroso, cc-tapis, Aquafil, and Cimento®, the installation showcases the future of textile design for retail and hospitality spaces.

Urquiola emphasizes holistic design, seamless living spaces, and the versatility of materials in her creations.

Patricia Urquiola described her "among-us" installation as a convivial and intuitive exploration of textiles, highlighting their evolving hybrid potential across various scales, from product design to one-off pieces.

The title reflects the installation’s focus on togetherness, celebrating new hybrid relationships in design.

In "among-us," physical and virtual worlds merge through a floor grid inspired by drafting software.

The installation features textile elements like sofas and sculptures, showcasing material and technology interplay.

It highlights how textiles blend functionality, aesthetics, sustainability, and traditional craftsmanship to influence design processes.

Heimtextil 2025 showcases a diverse range of products across 16 hall levels, including wallpapers, upholstery fabrics, mattresses, and carpets.

The Carpets & Rugs area has tripled in size, solidifying Heimtextil's position as the hub for the global carpet industry.

The Heimtextil Trends 25/26, curated by Milan-based design platform Alcova, highlights sustainable solutions, material qualities, and innovative production processes.

The event features a comprehensive content program addressing key industry topics, including sleep, sustainability, AI in retail, and contract furnishings.

Heimtextil takes place from 14 to 17 January 2025.
