Govt extends deadline for encashment of Rs25,000 and Rs40,000 prize bonds

May 31, 2021: The federal government has extended the date for encashment of Rs25,000 and Rs,40000 prize bonds.

According to the Ministry of Finance, the investors can now redeem these prize bonds till September 30, 2021.

There are two options for redemption, encashment or conversion of these prize bonds. Investor can either deposit their prize bonds into their bank accounts or convert into National Savings certificates.

In June 2019, the government discontinued Rs40,000 bonds. This is the second time the government has extended the deadline to encash the bond.

While Rs25,000 prize bonds were discontinued in December 2020. The deadline to redeem or replace it with other bonds was May 31, 2021.
