Govt borrows Rs1.8tr from banks in three months

November 17, 2023 (MLN): The government has borrowed a staggering Rs1.8 trillion from scheduled banks during the period from July 01 to October 06, 2023.

Breaking it down by province, the Punjab government borrowed Rs55.9bn, and the KPK government borrowed Rs35.1bn during the said period.

In contrast, the Baluchistan and the Sindh government reduced their debt by a cumulative Rs40bn as they retired Rs35bn and Rs5bn respectively.

Simultaneously, the private sector during the review period retired a total sum of Rs291bn in debt.
