Govt assures stable gas supply to exporters in winter

November 19, 2021 (MLN): Amid an expected shortfall in the country, Hammad Azhar, Minister of Energy has assured the exporters of all provinces that the government would maintain the gas supply during winters.

In a meeting with export sector, the minister said, “in return, exporters would shut down inefficient private power plants and bring them to the national grid.”

Yesterday, in the meeting of Cabinet Committee on Energy (CCoE), presided over by Mini­ster for Planning and Develop­ment Asad Umar, it was discussed that industrial activities will be the focus of gas management plans, especially in the export sector, with the petroleum division informing the meeting that the growing demand for domestic consumers will be met through savings from captive power plants.
