Google Wallet now supports Meezan Bank debit cards

March 13, 2025 (MLN): Meezan Bank cardholders can now add their debit cards to Google Wallet, marking a significant step in expanding Pakistan’s digital payments ecosystem.

This integration allows customers to make secure, contactless payments seamlessly using their Android smartphones and Wear OS devices.

The milestone is a major advancement in Pakistan’s digital banking evolution, offering a faster, safer, and more convenient way to conduct transactions while driving the future of digital payments in the region.

During a recent visit to Meezan Bank's head office, key industry leaders, including Mr. Chen Way Siew from Google Inc., Mr. Abdul Basit from Thales, Mr. Arslan Khan from Mastercard, and Mr. Umar Khan from VISA, participated in high-level discussions.

They met with the Bank’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Syed Amir Ali, and its leadership team to discuss the future of digital payments in Pakistan, as per the press release issued today.

The discussions focused on the future of digital payments in Pakistan and the role of Google Wallet in shaping the country's financial landscape.

Meezan Bank customers will be able to link their Meezan Visa and Mastercard Debit Cards to the Google Wallet App, enabling them to make in-store, online, and in-app transactions effortlessly.

This service eliminates the need for carrying physical cards, enhancing the user experience with features such as peer-to-peer payments, bill payments, in-app purchases, and real-time transaction tracking.

Google Wallet employs advanced security features, including tokenization, which replaces sensitive data with a unique digital identifier to reduce fraud risks.

Customers can securely authenticate transactions using their device’s fingerprint, PIN, or pattern, ensuring a safe and seamless payment experience.

Commenting on the occasion, Syed Iftikhar Ul Haq, Group Head Consumer Finance at Meezan Bank, stated, "We are thrilled to partner with Google Pay to offer our customers a seamless, secure payment experience."
